RiT XR camps: navigating into eXtended Realities

RiT has successfully organised a series of XR camps aimed at fostering a vibrant and inclusive XR community across Europe. These camps have served as platforms for artistic exploration, knowledge sharing, and collaborative learning, engaging a diverse range of participants and addressing critical topics within the realm of XR technologies.
Here’s a detailed look at the camps organised as part of the project.

The growth of XR (Extended Reality) scenarios (Augmented & Virtual Realities, Metaverse…), raises serious social and cultural issues. The Realities in Transition project aims at addressing these by thinking and promoting a common, open and sustainable XR, at a European level.
To do so, the activation of an active, thinking Creative and Activist European XR community is needed.

Workshop

The extended musical space – participatory and creative music making in digitally augmented musical environments
Talk by Bavo van Kerrebroek

XR technology, as the latest instantiation of our escape into the virtual, has now reached a point from which we are no longer bound to our physical bodies, substituting conscious experience of our physical environments for experimentally controlled, simulated, and multisensorial contexts.

Workshop

Workshop

The Cookery : XR and performing arts – Dark Euphoria

More and more, artists from dance, theatre, circus, etc. are taking advantage of digital technologies to explore new connections between real and virtual worlds and to reinvent the relationship with the audience. Thus, the hybridisation, virtualisation and augmentation of live performance are redefining the boundaries of the stage space. This workshop focused on the development of new uses of immersive and interactive technologies adapted to the performing arts, which enhance the audience’s experience.

Workshop

The Cookery : Creating Analog Virtual Realities – Sophia Bulgakova

Have you ever heard of a Dreamachine? In this workshop, tested, tried, discovered and experimented with creating new worlds and dimensions using various sensory deprivation and sensory overload techniques. Together explored how to hack your senses using the most straightforward methods possible.

Workshop

The Cookery : Patch your way to the metaverse

Virtual Reality is not just a novelty, but a maturing, emergent medium that challenges us with new ways of making music and art. The Patchathon was a chance for artists to work expressively right on that bleeding edge. It has set artists loose on in-development environment with the musical tools necessary to realize the full gamut of their imaginative possibilities.
