TALK – KRUID: Where Dance Meets Mixed Reality
On January 28th, we hosted an artistic project presentation: KRUID, an immersive performance blending dance and mixed reality. First premiered in 2024 at the Festival Grec in Barcelona, this work is the result of a collaboration between Sau-Ching Wong (Netherlands) and Carles Castaño Oliveros (Spain).
By combining human bodies with real-time projected 3D structures, KRUID creates an experience where reality and the virtual intersect. Using virtual reality devices, audiences are immersed in a dynamic universe where abstract forms and physical movements blend seamlessly into a living architectural space.
An innovative creative process
During the session, the artists shared their unique approach, explaining how KRUID explores the relationship between the human body and the digital realm. Their ambition is to push the boundaries of artistic interaction by transforming the stage into a canvas where technology enhances storytelling
Technology as a tool for emotion
Mixed reality and real-time 3D rendering are at the core of this project. “We aim to immerse the audience in a dialogue between imagination and technology,” the artists explained. This fusion of innovation and poetic expression invites reflection on how these tools reshape our perception of art.
