She sketches out exploratory walking simulators that examine the connections between material texture and walking as a method. Her interest lies in understanding the circulation of spectatorship, specifically how 3D technologies aid in the presentation of new perspectives in looking, navigating, and appreciating the nuances of reality and simulation. Wouter’s work isn’t just about creating interactive digital experiences—it’s about empowering others to do the same. From immersive online platforms to inventive media concepts, his designs allow users to take control, interact, and create. Whether it’s through interactive broadcasts, spontaneous live TV, or portable presentations, his projects enable others to engage in creative storytelling within flexible, dynamic environments.
In recent years, Wouter has shifted his focus toward enabling XR creators with open technology, giving them the tools to remain independent of the commercial parties dominating the XR space. By advocating for open platforms, his work ensures that creators have the freedom to explore and innovate without being restricted by proprietary systems or profit whims of key players in the industry.
With expertise in responsive design, WebGL, and CSS frameworks, Wouter’s platforms are more than visually compelling—they are robust tools that adapt seamlessly across devices, ensuring every user can access the same fluid, intuitive experience. His work emphasizes collaboration, both within teams of developers and designers, and in how the platforms themselves inspire creativity, turning technical complexities into user-friendly solutions that others can build upon and bring their own ideas to life.
