The workshop was open to everybody but with a special focus on visual artists and designers. The attendees were asked to prepare the following equipment for the workshop: personal computer, Instagram/Facebook account, smartphone, printed 2D artwork of their choice.
They also had to use a free Spark AR software. Based on the work that the artist’s former studio (Studio Comrades) did and the methods they used (the 2.5Dimensional method, merging the realms of 2D and 3D), Colga lead the participants in adopting the same method to transform their 2D artworks (drawing, prints, photographs) into AR creations.
The participants gained familiarity with Spark AR, a powerful tool for crafting AR effects and learned about target tracking and its role in augmenting the viewer’s reality.
The workshop introduced AR as an innovative platform for creative storytelling, expressing artistic ideas and exploring new narratives. Participants were urged to contribute their concepts on expanding 2D artwork through AR.
Under the artist’s guidance, they navigated the process of developing the AR layer for their creations. Subsequently, they engaged in testing and refining the AR prototype to achieve a smooth integration of augmented elements.
Additionally, participants delved into the intricacies of publishing the AR filter, ensuring its broader accessibility and dissemination.
